HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 910427A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TI[iE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE FUNDING AGREEMENT WITH THE GEORGETOWN INDUSTRIAL FOUNDATION FOR PROVIDING OPERATIONAL SERVICES TO •1 CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU TO ASSIST IN THE PROMOTION OF TOURISM, CONVENTIONS, HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITY FOR • CITY. WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas ("City") seeks to promote tourism, convention activity, and • and cultural activity within the City; and, WHEREAS, a half-time secretary/receptionist is needed to provide support services the Convention & Visitors Bureau Office; and, WHEREAS, part-time workers are needed periodically for convention and touris ?ctivities and projects; and I WHEREAS, the City desires to enter into a contract with the Georgetown industrial Foundation to provide for one-half the cost for salary and benefits for a secretary/receptionist for the Convention & Visitors Bureau • to be •-1 with hotel/motel tax funds; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown Industrial Foundation win provide for the remaining one- half of the salary and benefits for the secretary/receptionist; and WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action implements Economic Development Policy #4 of the Century Plan Policy Plan element, which states, "The City will develop and promote the tourism industry in Georgetown" and is not found to be inconsistent with or in conflict with any other Century Plan policies as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter • the Policy • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OJ GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: R -MMM The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof as if copied verbatim. Georgetown Industrial Foundation 91/92 Funding Agreement Resolution No. !Wa 7 Page 1 of 2 RMRM The City approves the funding agreement with the Georgetown Industrial Foundation for providing operational services to the Convention & Visitors Bureau office to assist in the promotion of tourism, conventions, historical and cultural activity, and commits to providing one-half of the salary for the secretary/receptionist to assist the Convention & Visitors Bureau office and maintain the daily on-going programs of the Convention & Visitors Bureau office, in an amount not to exceed $7,600.00; and, to fund salaries for part-time workers to be used on an as -needed basis for tourism activities and projects at an amount not to exceed $5.00 per hour and a total not to exceed $1,000.00 annually. A copy of the agreement is attached as Exhibit A. The Mayor is authorized to execute this resolution and the City Secretary to attest thereto.
