GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, IN SUPPORT OF A BUSINESS RETENTION
SURVEY AND IDENTIFYING THE SOURCE OF FUNDING FOR THE
SURVEY.
WHEREAS the City of Georgetown 'S Annual Operating Budget and Program of
Services for Fiscal Year 1990-91 includes an Objective directing the Division of
Development and Planning to prepare a business retention survey for the community;
WHEREAS the City of Georgetown, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, and
the Georgetown Industrial Foundation will work together to prepare and administer the
business retention survey;
WHEREAS a business retention survey will enable the City, the Chamber, and t
Foundation to strengthen the cooperation with the businesses and industries in Georgetowil
and to gather information regarding the needs of local businesses and industries-, I
WHEREAS the results of the business retention survey may require the City to make
future budget allocations for utility service upgrades and extensions and other improvements
to meet the identified needs of local businesses; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action implements Economic
Development Policy 1 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, and the Strategic Plan for
Economic Development, and is not found to be inconsistent or in conflict with any other
Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the
Policy Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THJ
CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
The Mayor and City Council support the preparation and implementation of a
business retention survey. The City's share of the costs of the survey, not to exceed $2,500,
are to be paid from the City Council Contingency - General Fund.
