A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PRELIMINARY DESIGN
PLANS PREPARED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF
HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FOR
IMPROVEMENTS TO RM2243 AND REALIGNMENT OF
FM1460
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation is committed to improving RM2243 (Leander Roa
from IH35 to Austin Avenue; I
WHEREAS, the Rabbit Hill District Plan accepted by the City
Council in November 1987 introdu6e8 the concept of rerouting
UM1460 to improve circulation and safety;
WHEREAS, on October 24, 1989, the City Council adopted
Resolution #890404 stating their general objectives for the
design of improvements to RM2243 and realignment of FM1460;
WHEREAS, the City Council's objectives were designed to
minimize the impacts of improving RM2243 and realigning FM1460 on
commercial and residential properties;
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation has generally met the City's objectives in their
preliminary design plans prepared for the improvements to RM2243
and realignment of FM1460 and reviewed by the City Council on
November 27, 1990;
WHEREAS, the Georgetown City Council held a public hearing
on December 11, 1990, to obtain public comment on the preliminary
design plans for the improvements to RM2243 and relignment of
FM1460; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this action implements
Facilities and Services Policy 1 and Transportation Policies 1
and 2 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, as well as the
Transportation Element of the Century Plan - Development Plan.
The City Council further finds that this action is not
inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies,
Goals, or objectives as required by Section 2.03 of the
Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TAE CITT
OF GEORGETOWN THAT:
All of the facts recited in the preamble to this Resolution
are hereby found by the City Council to be true and correct, and
are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part
hereof, as if copied verbatim.
Section Two.
1) The Georgetown City Council approves the preliminary design
plans prepared by the State Department of Highways and
Public Transportation for the improvement of RM2243.
2) The State Department of Highways and Public Transportation
is encouraged to begin preparation of the final design plans
for the improvement of RM2243 from IH35 to Business 35.
Section Three.
This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon
adoption.
