WHEREAS, environmentally safe and economically affordable solid wast,�
management services are necessary for the citizens of Georgetown; and,
WHEREAS, Williamson County has established a Type I solid waste landfill
uorth of Hutto, Texas, to provide for the municipal (non -hazardous) solid waste
disposal needs of the residences and businesses of Williamson County, including
Georgetown, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, Williamson County has contracted with Waste Management of Texas,
Inc., to operate the landfill in an environmentally safe and cost-efficient
wanner,, ;and,
WHEREAS, Williamson County has filed an application to amend its landfi
permit to ensure compliance with federal and state environmental requirements
thereby to provide for the future solid waste disposal requirements f
Williamson County, including the residences and businesses of Georgetown; anj
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, finds that it
is in the best interests of its citizens to support the application by Williamson
County to amend and upgrade its landfill.
NOW,
its" FORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Georgetown, Texas, that:
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution aYM-
hereby found and declared to be true and correct and are incorporated
reference heroin and expressly made a part hereof as if copied verbatim.
City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Utilities/Energy Poli
2 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states, "The City wi
establish utility policies which take into consideration the needs of a
citizens of the community and take necessary precautions to prevent harmm
ecological impact on the environment, " and Policy 5, which states, "The City wi
provide water, wastewater, electric, and solid waste collection services whi
meet the immediate and future needs of all citizens and which encourages

provides for economic development", and further finds that the adoption of th
resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Pl
policies as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Poli
Plan.

The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute and the City Secretary to attest
to this resolution which supports the application of Williamson County to amend
-and upgrade its landfill on behalf of the City of Georgetown.
