HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 920129 - Cleaning Services HandicappedRESOLUTION NO. 3 VA 112[m V I I # 10 0 P My - MUZZIRCM, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown has been advised of the services offered by the blind and handicapped citizens of Texas; and WHEREAS, these services are marketed by the state designated non-profit organization, Texas Industries for the Blind and Handicapped; and WHEREAS, Section 122.014 of the Human Resources Code and Attorney General's Opinion IM -444 authorize political subdivisions of the state to purchase products or services produced by blind or other severely disabled persons without competitive bidding; and WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown City Council wishes to express its commitment to the blind and handicapped citizens of Texas by procuring their services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIRE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: The City Council finds that the recitals set forth above are true and correct and incorporated herein for all purposes. SECTION 11 The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Facilities and Services Policy 1 of the Century Plan. Policy Plan Element, which states; "The City will endeavor to increase the quality of life through the upgrading of existing facilities and services and the provision of new services to meet the specific needs of the community"; and further finds that the adoption of this resolution isnot inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. The City Council agrees to enter into a contract for cleaning services with the Texas Industries for the Bind and Handicapped for a period of one year beginning April 1, 1992 and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same, the City Secretary to attest and the City Attonrey to approve as to form said agreement.
