HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 920072A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF APPLICATIONS FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS, THROUGH THE CAPITAL AREA PLANNING COUNCIL AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the United States Government, the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office, and the Capital Area Planning Council has announced that funds are available for the 1992 - 1993 fiscal year for continuation of existing grant programs; and WHEREAS, the Division of Police Services was the recipient of additional funds tit supplement existing funds for the purposes of combatting juvenile crime and delinquency under a Juvenile Law Enforcement Officer grant; and WHEREAS, the second grant year period will end and a resolution is required for the grant to continue for the third grant year', and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT- ZINUMOM The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council has found that this action implements the Education Policy, which states, "Encourage and cooperate with other entities to promote diverse and comprehensive educational opportunities"; Facilities and Services Policy, which states, "Increase the quality of life by upgrading existing and providing new facilities and services"; and Governmental Affairs Policy 1 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states, "Pursue increased cooperation with all entities which provide services in the community"; and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not found to be inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the L!"olicy Plan; - 90"918101 The Police Department is hereby authorized to prepare a grant application for continuation of funds for the Juvenile Law Enforcement Officer. JLEO Grant Resolution No. 1� Page 1 of 2 W 42 6194off 002M The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest thereto, a grant with the Capital Area Planning Council on behalf of the City of Georgetown.
