WHEREAS, the City Council o the City of Georgetown, Texas, mds that the Parks and
Recreation Board has recommended that Place Collaborative Incorporated be named as the firm
to develop the specifications and construction documents for the Phase 1 San Gabriel River
Corridors Park and Athletic Complexon behalf of the City of Georgetown; and,
WHEREAS, the City, in its Century Plan -Policy Plan, has found that the City should
provide its citizens with neighborhood and community parks and facilities available to all
individuals, families and groups, the enjoyment of the outdoors and recreation; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the development of the San Gabriel River ani
?thletic complex with walks, picnic areas, soccer, and other activities improves the quality of lif*
it the citizens of Georgetown.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
*F GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained *in the preamble of this resolution are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this
resolution implements Recreation and Cultural Affairs Policy 2 of the Century Plan -Policy Plan
Element, Goal B, which states, "The City should provide its citizens with neighborhood and
community parks and facilities that will make available to all individuals, facilities, and groups
enjoyment of the outdoors and recreation", short range 1, which states, in part, "The City will
have a comprehensive plan to address the following: Development of hiking, biking, and fitness
trails; and, development of Blue Hole, San Gabriel River and adjacent area with walks, picnic
facilities, canoeing, swimming, and other activities", and short range 2, which states, "The City
will develop recreational programs to capitalize on the San Gabriel River and Lake Georgetown
as great natural resources". and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent
or in conflict with any other Century Plan policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the
Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest
thereto this resolution which authorizes the City Staff to negotiate a contract with Place
Collaborative Incorporated as the firm for the Phase I San Gabriel River Corridors Park and
Athletic Complex specifications and construction documents, on behalf of the City of
Georgetown.
