GABRIEL RIVER '1,YNDOCH PARW', AFTER OUR SISTER
CITY IN LYNDOCH, AUSTRALIA.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, finds that there is a tract
*f 18.78 acres in Riverview Estates, Lot 30, Block U, Three -C, on the South Bank of the South
San Gabriel River suitable for park land; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the fond ties that exist with our sister city in
Lyndoch, Australia; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council appreciates the fact that our sister city of Lyndoch,

action meets the criteria set out in the Century Plan - Parks and Recreation Functional Plan for
naming a park (page 63); and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action implements Recreation and
Cultural Affairs Policy 2 of the Century Plan -Policy Plan Element, which states: "The City will
ensure that future land use patterns provide economic, cultural, and social activities to all
residents, businesses and organizations". Means - Ongoing. The City will use existing easements
which include a recreation related use within the park system whenever possible.
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action is not inconsistent or in confli,91
with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chaptl

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE C]TY OF

The Parks and Recreation Division is authorized to name the 18.75 acres of land in
Riverview Estates, Lot 30, Block U, Three -C flyndoch Park".
This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
