M20//O A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBNHTTAL OF APPLICATIONS FOR CONTINUATION OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT AND THE CREMIINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOWS OFMCE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS, THROUGH THE CAPITAL AREA PLANNING COUNCIL AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the United States Government, the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office, and the Capital Area Planning Council has announced that funds are available (or the 1993 - 1994 fiscal year for continuation of existing grant programs.; WHEREAS, the Division of Police Services has the -need of for supplemental resources to enhance the positive efforts and projects relating to youth services-, WHEREAS, the State of Texas has mandated that law enforcement agencies create, implement andp rovide services to victims of violent crimes; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TBM CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: I The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council has found that this action implements the Education Policy, which states, "Encourage and cooperate with other entities to promote diverse and comprehensive educational opportunities"; Facilities and Services Policy, which states, "Increase the quality of life by upgrading existing and providing new facilities and services"; Health and Human Services, which states, "Cooperate with providers of health and human services to ensure that comprehensive and affordable services are available"; Recreation and Cultural Affairs, which states, "Assist in providing opportunities for participation in recreational and cultural programs"; and Governmental Affairs Policy 1 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states, "Pursue *increased cooperation with all entities which provide services in the community"; and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not found to be inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan; Grant Appl. Resolution No. 9"o Page 1 of 2 The Police Department is hereby authorized to prepare a grant application for supplemental funds to enhance youth services and provide victim services. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest thereto the Grantee Acceptance Notice with the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office on behalf *f the City of Georgetown. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption. RESOLVED this - -k- day of 1993.
