WBEREAS, the City of Georgetown is a retail distributor of electric power generated by the public power electric utility of the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA); and WIIEREAS, the customers of the City of Georgetown's electric system have contributed to the purchase of that system through their electric bills; and Ims= NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TH 0 CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: I SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Utilities and Energy Policy 5 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states: "the City will provide water, wastewater, electricity, and solid waste collection services which meet the immediate and future needs of all citizens and which encourages and provides for economic development"; and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. SECTION 2. The City Council hereby ratifies the Mayor's signature on letters to Senator Jim Turner and State Representative Mike Krusee opposing the sale or privatization of the LORA. SECTION 3. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption. RESOLVED this 23 day of February, 1993.
