I 1 19 010105 1 DION lot it Is I LVA Do 17.174 V WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas ("City"), seeks to promote tourism, convention activitil cultural activity, historic preservation and historical activities with the City; and, I WHEREAS, the Georgetown Palace Theatre, Inc., seeks to restore and renovate the Palace Theatre building at 814 Austin Avenue and provide programs and events which will further enhance the City's tourism activities and become a major tourist attraction for visitors to Georgetown; and, WHEREAS, the City desires to amend the July 23, 1991, Funding Agreement with the Georgetown Palace Theatre, Ito extend the payments until August 1, 1999. 11 l�! 111%1111 q111111 SECTION 1 The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council has found that this action implements Economic Development Policy #2, which states, "The City will continue to promote and facilitate the development of the downtown as an economically viable component of the retail and business community," and Policy #4, which states, "The City will develop and promote the tourism industry in Georgetown, " and Historic Preservation and Urban Fresign Policy #1, which states, " The City will preserve, protect, and promote its prehistoric, historic, and cultural resources," of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, and is not found to be inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. SECTION 2 The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest thereto to this amended 9-greement with the Palace Theatre, Inc., on behalf of the City of Georgetown.
