WHEREAS, both the City of Georgetown and the Georgetown Independent School
District have recognized the need for providing adequate recreational facilities for the use ani
benefit of the general population of the City of Georgetown, and especially for the benefit ol
school-age children, and,
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has made the land available for joint use as a
soccer complex development; and,
WHEREAS, a substantial savings to the public will result by the joint development and
use of such land for both school and park purposes; by providing soccer facilities to Georgetown
Independent School District and in turn the City of Georgetown may use the G.I.S.D.
Gymnasiums during the months of January through March on Saturdays at no charge.
112LEREAS, by joint use of City facilities for both City Soccer, as well as school soccer
purposes, the public will benefit by having an 'increased number and higher quality located
facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT.*
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this
resolution implements Recreation and Cultural Affairs Policy 2 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan
Element, which states, "The City will assist in providing all its citizens the opportunity to
participate in recreational and cultural programs", and further finds that the adoption of this
resolution is not inconsistent or *in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by
Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.

SECTION 2. That the City Council of the City of Georgetown approves the joint use
for the park located at 1100 North College Street in Georgetown, Texas. The City Council
hereby authorizes and directs its City Manager to represent and act for the City of Georgetown
in dealing with the Georgetown Independent School District for the purposes of this program.
The Mayor is hereby officially designated at the City's representative in this regard.
SECTION 3. That the Mayor is authorized to execute the joint -use agreement and thT,
City Secretary to attest , and the City Attorney to approve after approval by the Georgetown
Independent School District.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
