THE GEORGETOWN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by Mayor Gary Nelon.
Council present: Gabe Sansing, Jack Noble, Sam Pfiester
City Staff present: Paul Brandenburg, City Manager; Sandra Lee, City Secretary; Jim Briggs, Assistant
City Manager for Utility Operations; Tom Yantis, Assistant City Manager; Micki Rundell, Director of
Finance and Administration; Eric Lashley, Library Services Director
School Board present: Jerry Graham, Mark Bobinger, Sharon Webster, John McMaster and Art de la Cruz
GISD Staff present: Dr. Jim Gunn, Superintendent and David McLaughlin, Assistant Superintendent
Discussion regarding:
Consolidation of Polling Places -- It was determined that the School District will contract with the
County to conduct their elections and will share the polling locations and the ballot with the City.
2. Birkelbach Stadium -- Discussion regarding renovations, expansion and/or possible relocation of
the stadium with the possibility of a joint effort between the City, the School District and the
County.
GISD Ninth Elementary School -- The plat was displayed and there was discussion regarding
progress in the development process concerning a waterline to be installed by the City and
agreement regarding a chip -seal surface for access during construction. Dr. Gunn predicted
construction would begin in May 2003, with opening scheduled for August.
4. Update from Joint Sharing of Services Committee -- Brandenburg, Yantis, Rundell and
McLaughlin discussed the various services being considered for joint participation.
