Council Present: Council Absent: "Gabe Sansing, Doug Smith, Jack Noble, Sam Llorente Navarrette Pfiester, Farley Snell, Ken Evans Staff Present: Paul Brandenburg, City Manager; Tom Yantis, Assistant City Manager; Jim Briggs, Assistant City Manager for Utility Operations; Trish Carls, City Attorney; Jo -Christy Brown, City Attorney; Sandra Lee, City Secretary; Shirley Rinn, Deputy City Secretary; Micki Rundell, Director of Finance and Administration; Carla Bourland, Human Resources Director Convened at 4:00 p.m. A Discussion of possible items to include in Charter Election, based on work of the Charter Committee -- Trish Carls, City Attorney Carls noted that she and her law partner, Jo Christy Brown, had reviewed the information provided by the Charter Committee and grouped together those items that could be combined for presentation on the ballot, such as those items to bring the Charter compatible with state law, those items that were grammatical changes, and those items that were substantive changes. Nelon noted at a recent Mayor's Alliance Meeting that he heard about the City of Austin's "lengthy" ballot for Charter amendments because they chose not to combine items. He said the other mayors said the number of items should be reduced so as to avoid voter fatigue.
