Public Hearing
A Public Hearing on the property tax rate for the 1999/00 Annual Operating Plan as proposed by the City
Manager — Susan Morgan
Morgan explained that the proposed property tax rate for this budget is $0.34, a penny lower than the
existing tax rate, but because property values have gone up, it will actually be a property tax increase of
about 29% and comes out to $18 a year for the average homeowner. She explained the required ad in the
newspaper. She said Georgetown's rate is still much lower than other cities. Even when all the taxes are
combined, Georgetown's overall taxes are lower than most.
Kersch asked the audience for comments. There were no comments.
