With a Powerpoint Presentation, Rundell spoke about the requirement to hold a public hearing during the budget
process. She briefly reviewed the budget process and the tax rate. She spoke about the new programs and
services that will be funded by the tax rate. She did an overview of the property tax rate and said it is set by the
Council and there are two elements of the rate: Operations and Maintenance and Interest in Sinking. She defined
the "effective�' tax rate and the "rollback rate" for the City Council. She spoke about the 2014/15 assessed
valuation and said the certified assessed valuation is $5,253 Billion. She said the original proposed tax rate was
$0.43500, She noted, however, the Council recommended rate is $0A3400. She described the impacts of the
proposed rate on the average homeowner. She described the tax rate components for the Council. She showed
Council a tax rate breakdown over the course of five years. She showed Council a graph of the combined tax
rates compared to surrounding cities.
Brandenburg spoke about how other cities partner with Austin Community College. He brought attention to how
this partnership adds quite a bit to the tax rate of those communities.

approval. Hesser said his only concern is that a financial statement was not provided. Lashley said he can provide
that information to the Council. Brainard asked and Lashley said the can rent out the facility for special events.
Lashley said they have not had an open date as of yet for special events and private rentals. He noted their first
rental is on the 27th . Jonrowe said these are some hard working people and the amount of hours they put in
boggles her mind. She said the city has a good situation going here. She said it has been an ongoing process
and it is amazing to see the progress in place.
