GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A
RESOLUTION MODIFYING THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN.
)vVHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a Mission Statement to guide the activities of
the staff and advisory boards; and
WHEREAS, the Council reviewed the Mission Statement at its 1995 Retreat;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution aiM
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that th
resolution implements Environmental and Resource Conservation Policy 1 of the Century Plan
Policy Plan Element, which states: "The physical attributes that make Georgetown attractive
protected,` Finance Policy 1, which states - "All municipal operations are conducted in an efficie
a
businesslike manner"; Growth and Physical Development Policy 5, which states: "the Ci
maintains a system to aid in the creation of envirom-nentally suitable development projects;" a I
Historic Preservation and Urban Design Policy 1. which states: "Prehistoric, historic, and cultur

resources are preserved, protected, and promoted;" and further finds that the adoption of th
resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required
Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2. The Mission Statement is modified as follows:
The Mission of the City of Georgetown is to initiate action which
will eantii+ually preserve and enhance the quality of life and
Georgetown's unique character by preparing for the future through
the:
Preservation of Georgetown's rich heritage and natural resources;
Promotion of well-planned development, cost effective
professional management and competent, fTiendly services;
and
Protection of its citizens, the envirolu-nent, and all other
assets.

SECTION 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest
thereto this resolution of the City of Georgetown.
