A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, INSTRUCTING THE STAFF TO PREPARE A POLICY PAPER ON AFFORDABLE HOUSING STRATEGIES FROM WHICH THE CITY COUNCIL CAN CONDUCT A POLICY GOVERNANCE WORKSHOP ON HOUSING NEEDS. WHEREAS, a well-balanced community must provide a range of housing for residents; and WHEREAS, housing strategies need to both promote home ownership as well as assuring the availability of rental housing; and WHEREAS, the City Council seeks to approach the issue of housing in a holistic manner. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements the following policy or policies of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element: 1. Housing Policy End 10. 0, which states: "The City cooperates with builders, developers, and property owners to provide safe and adequate housing opportunities for all citizens." SECTION 2. The staff is hereby instructed to prepare a policy briefing concerning housing strategies, including the mix of housing types and house pricing with regard to affordability. The preparation of the information is to be comprehensive and complete and should include an analysis of the manufactured home ordinance as determined at the governance policy discussion compared to the actual adopted version. SECTION 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to attest thereto this resolution on behalf of the City of Georgetown. SECTION 4.
