A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A
QUITCLAIM DEED(S) ABANDONING THE MAIN STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY
LOCATED BETWEEN LOTS 1 AND 8 OF BLOCK 16 AND LOTS 4 AND
5 OF BLOCK 15, IN THE NORTH GEORGETOWN ADDITION, RECORDED
IN CABINET A, SLIDE 249, PLAT RECORD OF WILLIAMSON COUNTY,
TEXAS; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has received an application for the
abandonment of an undeveloped portion of the Main Street right-of-way located between
Lots 1 and 8 of Block 16 and Lots 4 and 5 of Block 15, of the North Georgetown Addition,
recorded in Cabinet A, Slide 249 of the Plat Records of Williamson County, Texas, as
shown on the attached Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that no public need for this right-of-way exists;
WHEREAS, ,upon consideration of the application and additional information
pertaining to the application, the City Council now finds that the abandonment will benefit
the community as a whole by facilitating the development of the surrounding properties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution
are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference
herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim.
The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Growth and Physical
Development Policy 1 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states "The City
will ensure that future land use patterns provide economic, cultural, and social activities to
all residents, businesses and organizations"; and further finds that the adoption of this
resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required
by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2. The City Attorney is hereby authorized to issue and the Mayor is
authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of Georgetown, a quitclaim deed(s)
abandoning the portion of the Main Street right-of-way between Lots 1 and 8 of Block 16
and Lots 4 and 5 of Block 15, in the North Georgetown Addition, recorded in Cabinet A,
Slide 249, of the Plat Records of Williamson County, Texas.

SECTION 3. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
