A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, REQUESTING THE WILLIAMSON COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS COURT TO KEEP THE SITE FOR THE WILLIAMSON
COUNTY EXPOSITION CENTER AT THE CURRENT PLANNED SITE ON
INTERSTATE 35.
WHEREAS, Williamson County appointed a committee of citizens and engaged
consultants to determine the best location for an exposition center; and
WHEREAS, the success factors for the Williamson County Exposition Center
deemed the "Georgetown" site on Interstate 35 and the Inner Loop is the most feasible
site; and
WHEREAS, the study further indicated that the "Georgetown" site was the best
opportunity for a long-term successful operation; and
WHEREAS, the "Georgetown" site for the proposed Exposition Center has
convenient accessibility to hotels in both Round Rock and Georgetown; and
WHEREAS, the "Georgetown" site has convenient access to Interstate 35 and is
geographically centered in Williamson County; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined the successful construction and
operation of the Exposition Center to be the top priority for City staff and Council to
accomplish.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution
are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference
herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby
finds that this resolution implements the following policies of the Century Plan - Policy Plan
Element:
1. Economic Development Policy End 1.0, which states: "Georgetown's
economy is self-sustaining through diversified growth, a broad tax base with
minimal impact from economic fluctuation, enhanced business opportunity
and job creation."

2. Governmental Affairs Policy End 6.0, which states: "A high level of
cooperation and involvement exists among Georgetown's citizens and
governmental organizations."
SECTION 2. The Georgetown City Council respectfully requests that the Williamson
County Commissioners Court follow the recommendations of the Citizens Committee and
its independent consultant's study which indicate that the best location for the site of the
Williamson County Exposition Center is at Interstate 35 and Inner Loop in Georgetown.
SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Secretary to
attest thereto this resolution on behalf of the City of Georgetown.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
