The City of Georgetown remains in phase 1 of its Drought Contingency Plan.This means that the two day per-week limit on outdoor irrigation in still in effect.The two day per- week limit began last October. For irrigation systems and hose-end sprinklers,your day for watering is based on the last digit of your address number: Odd addresses Tuesday and/or Saturday Even addresses Wednesday and/or Sunday No sprinkler or irrigation system use is permitted on Mondays, Thursdays,or Fridays. Watering with a sprinkler or irriga- tion system is not permitted from 12 noon to 7 p.m.each day. Watering with a hand-held hose or bucket can be done any day and at any time. County Health Rankings Remains in Effect Watering Limit: Two Days Weekly Georgetown Utility Systems is join- ing with other utilities in Central Texas to alert customers of a phone scam targeting Hispanic businesses. While Georgetown utility employees have not received recent reports of scam attempts,a cooperative broad- cast campaign is reaching out to Spanish-speaking customers to pre- vent future fraud attempts. In the phone scam reported last summer,callers would identify themselves as utility employees and ask customers to pay past due balances over the phone via “untraceable”credit cards purchased at local stores. “Georgetown Utility Systems is con- cerned any time our customers are negatively impacted by the dishonest practices of scammers,”says Leticia Zavala, customer care manager for Georgetown Utility Systems.“We For the fifth year in a row,Williamson County,home of Georgetown,has been in the No.1 or No.2 spot on an annual ranking of the healthiest counties in the state that were announced in March. Williamson is ranked the No.2 health- iest county in Texas in the 2014 County Health Rankings,an annual report by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The annual ranking is a report card that scores counties on a range of factors such as air quality,clean water, community safety,educational attain- ment,employment rates,graduation rates,health behaviors,healthcare quality,and longevity.The annual rankings are based on a variety of data sources such as the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System survey,and the National Center for Health Statistics.The rankings are available online at www.countyhealthrankings.org. will never call you demanding money or come to your home or business demanding payment.We will call customers only to advise them of a past-due balance.”If a bill payment is overdue,Zavala says there is a three-step notification process: First,late notices are mailed the day after the due date. Second,an automated phone call is provided two weeks after the due date. Third,a second automated phone call is provided three weeks after the due date. It is strictly against policy for any customer service representative to accept payment in the field. Georgetown Public LibraryYoumayhave noticed electric vehicle charging stations in City of Georgetown park- ing lots.The five charging stations are in downtown City parking lots and at the Recreation Center and Public Library. Each station can charge two electric vehicles. The City of Georgetown received a federal grant in 2011 from the Department of Energy to pay for the charging stations.The stations are part of the ChargePoint America program and administered through Coulomb Technologies.The City supplies the modest amount of electricity used by the stations. The ChargePoint.com website displays sta- tions worldwide and lets users know if a charging station is available or in use.Electric vehicle owners use a ChargePoint pass card that allows them to charge.The sta- tions were placed to allow people to shop,dine,exercise,or attend an event in Georgetown while their car charges.
