WHEREAS, the City has obtained a grant through the Texas Community
Development Program for the improvement of the water line on Austin Avenue and
whereas, the Department requires adoption of this resolution in accordance with Texas
Department of Housing and Community Affairs procedures;
WHEREAS, it is hereby declared that the City of Georgetown prohibits the use of
excessive force by the law enforcement agencies within its jurisdiction against any
individual engaged in nonviolent civil right demonstrations. The City also prohibits the
physical barring of any entrance to, or exit from, such a facility within its jurisdiction, and
WHEREAS, it is hereby declared that it is the policy of the City to enforce this
policy to the full extent allowed by law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this
resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated
by reference herein and expressly made a park hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City
Council hereby finds that this resolution implements the Facilities and Services
component of the Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the
Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this Resolution and the City
Secretary to attest thereto on behalf of the City of Georgetown.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
