WHEREAS, the existing traffic conditions along Williams Drive (R.M. 2338)
and IH -35 in the City of Georgetown has experienced increased growth, and
WHEREAS, the projected growth in this region is expected to increase by five
(5) percent per year through the year 2025, and
WHEREAS, nearly sixty -eight (68) percent of all traffic traveling north on the
existing northbound frontage road of IH -35 perform a left turn movement at the current
intersection of Williams Drive (R.M. 2338) and the Northbound Frontage Road, and
WHEREAS, nearly twenty (20) percent of all traffic traveling west on the
existing Williams Drive (R.M. 2338) bridge over IH -35 perform a left turn movement at
the current intersection of Williams Drive (R.M. 2338) and the Southbound Frontage
Road, and
WHEREAS, these existing left turn movements along Williams Drive (R.M.
2338) and the northbound /southbound frontage roads of IH -35 create time delays and
safety concerns to the traveling public;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this
resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by
reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City
Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Transportation Policy End 10.00 of
the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element that states: "Citizens and commercial goods move
safely and efficiently throughout all parts of the City. "; and further finds that the adoption
of this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as
required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2: The City of Georgetown officially requests that the Texas
Department of Transportation design and build an addition to the existing bridge
structure, located at Williams Drive (R.M. 2338) and the Southbound Frontage Road of
Interstate Highway 35, allowing all traffic traveling north on the existing Northbound
Williams Drive "U" Turn, TxDOT Resolution No. f

Frontage Road of Interstate Highway 35, to perform a left turn movement at the current
intersection of Williams Drive (R.M. 2338) and the Southbound Frontage Road of
Interstate Highway 35.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
