Members Present: Christy Hullum, Chair, Keith Fruge, Secretary, Mike Simpson, Mary Treuter and Jackie Carey Members Absent: Patty Eason Staff Present: Shawn Gunnin Minutes Regular Meeting Meeting called to order at 6:08 p.m. by Christy Hullum. 1. Citizens comments – none. 2. Approval of minutes from the November advisory board meeting – The November minutes were approved unanimously. 3. Discussion about change in management and staffing issues at the Animal Shelter – Jackie Carey discussed the change in management at the shelter and reported that the shelter budget request for 2011 needed more detail and refinement. The board will meet 3 February to conduct a budget workshop. 4. Animal Services statistical and analytical report for the months of November and December, 2009 – Jackie Carey discussed the reports for November and December 2009. Euthanasia rates are up for cats and dogs primarily attributable to a large feral cat colony intake and observed behavior of dogs. 5. Discussion about fund raising events at Animal Shelter – Jackie Carey discussed upcoming fund raising events: Paws for Mardi Gras, February 20 and the Animal Shelter Garage Sale in April. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding animal shelter program statistics – Mike Simpson presented examples of data requirements and formats needed to produce more relevant and useful reports of shelter statistics.
