The Animal Shelter Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Thursday , April 15, 2010.

Minutes
Regular Meeting
Meeting called to order at 6:04 p.m. by Christy Hullum.
1. Citizens comments – none.
2. Discussion with Finance Director Micki Rundell about budget/donations –
Postponed to May meeting.
3. Approval of minutes from February Advisory Board meeting – Motion was made
to approve by Jackie Carey, second by Mary Treuter and approved unanimously.
4. Animal Services statistical and analytical report for the month of February and
March 2010 – Jackie Carey reviewed the reports for February and March 2010. Intakes
continue to trend in a positive direction.
Notable observations include Jackie’s promotion to Shelter Director and Shelter is
changing procedure to live virus vaccination for both cats and dogs, every two weeks,
while in shelter environment. Animals turned in by owner will also receive vaccinations,
even if shot records show up to date.
Training on the shelter Chameleon computer system will be three days, conducted at
shelter.
Organizational changes in the police organization include new Police Chief Wayne
Nero, and Animal Shelter Director Jackie Carey now reports to Interim Captain David
Morgan in the police department.
5. Discussion and possible action about Police Department representation at
Advisory Board meetings
Jackie and Patty reported active interest expressed by Police Chief Wayne Nero,
having visited the shelter in April and conversations about attending some of the
Advisory Board meetings.
6. Discussion and possible action about upcoming fundraising events and ideas
– Jackie Carey reported that the Dog Walk was successful this year with ideas for
changes next year. Dog Days of Summer is being planned as a barbeque cook-off with
location to be determined. One possibility is the Pecan Grove across from the Dog
Park. The Garage Sale is April 16 and 17 at the San Gabriel Community Center.
