Members Present: Debbie Frase, Chair, Keith Fruge, Secretary, Christy Hullum, Holly Garland, Patty Eason, Jackie Carey and Erica Haley, DVM Members Absent: Staff Present: Ken Finn Minutes Regular Meeting Meeting called to order at 6:04 p.m. by Debbie Frase. 1. Citizens comments – none. 2. May 2008 minutes – Minutes were accepted unanimously. 3. Discussion and possible action relating to disaster preparedness planning – Ken presented information that the County Regional Animal Shelter is developing a county wide disaster preparedness plan. The Georgetown shelter plans on working closely with the county during the development of the plan. Additional training for disaster volunteers is being planned for by the regional shelter. 4. Report of progress of anti-tethering ordinance – The proposed ordinance passed the first reading before the city council unanimously with little discourse and no changes recommended. 5. Shelter Report for April – Ken Finn presented the shelter reports. Return to owners continues to trend up and is likely attributable to the microchipping program. Ken plans to begin tracking microchipping intake and return statistics later this year. Cat intakes are up significantly as is typical during warmer weather. Planning is underway for the Arts for Animals fund raiser later this year. Discussion took place on how to best recognize shelter volunteers for their service. Ken will research the issue and report back to the board. 6. Discussion and possible action on how to schedule recurring items for the Animal shelter Advisory Board meeting agendas – Item was brought up during the meeting and will be discussed at a future advisory board meeting.
