HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_09.18.2008Minutes of the Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Board City of Georgetown, Texas Thursday, September 18, 2008 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Thursday , September 18, 2008. Members Present: Debbie Frase, Chair, Chisty Hullum, Vice Chair, Keith Fruge, Secretary, Erica Haley, DVM, Patty Eason, Holly Garland, and Jackie Carey. Members Absent: None Staff Present: Ken Finn Minutes Regular Meeting Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Debbie Frase. 1. Citizens comments – none. 2. August 2008 minutes – Approval was deferred until November’s meeting. 3. September 2008 minutes – Minutes were approved unanimously. 4. Animal Services statistical and analytical report for the month of September, 2008 – Ken Finn discussed the report for September. Trends continue to be positive and are likely attributable to aggressive population control measures and the chip implant program. Calls for service are up but corresponds with population and city annexation increases. A request for increase in staff is likely for the next city budget cycle. Shelter build out is going well with the city acting as the prime contractor. 5. Discussion and possible action on fundraising ideas for anti-tethering ordinance – Because of economic concerns and the extensive planning required it was decided to delay the event until 2009 and possibly make it a Sun City centered event. 6. Discussion of a citizen’s complaint – Debbie Frase discussed an incident where a citizen was told by shelter staff that the shelter would not accept a stray animal near closing time. Ken Finn stated that he would reinforce the policy to accept animals during normal operating hours. 7. Disaster and possible action on the presence of Georgetown Police Department Management at Animal Shelter Advisory Board meetings – During discussion, it was decided that the board would request police management attendance at advisory board meetings when appropriate agenda items were scheduled to be discussed. Meeting adjourned by Debbie Frase at 6:46 p.m.
