HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 870217.016 - Alc Bev Near Amuse DevicesORDINANCE NUMBER 870217.016 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER', 16, OCCUPATIONAL LICENSES TAXES, AND REGULATIONS OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN BY MODIFYING THE PROHIBITION AGAINST THE SALE AND USE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WHERE AUTOMATIC AMUSEMENT DEVICES ARE PRESENT, AND ELIMINATING THE PROHIBITION OF ROOM PARTITIONS WHERE AUTOMATIC AMUSEMENT DEVICES ARE PRESENT, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN: SECTION 1. That chapter 16, section 16-27, (Alcoholic beverages), be amended to reaa follows: The sale, use or possession of any alcoholic beverage by anyone in a room where automatic amusement device(s) are present is hereby prohibited. All entrances to rooms where automatic amusement device(s) are located shall bear a sign, posted in a conspicuous location, which sures "POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL BEVERAGES BEYOND THIS POINT IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED". Such sign shall be clearly readable and the letters of such sign shall not be less than one inch in height. The sale, use or possession of any alcoholic beverage by anyone on the driveways, sidewalks or parking lot of any building in which automatic amusement device(s) are located is prohibited. No person licensed, under this section, shall knowingly permit the sale, use, consumption or possession of any alcoholic beverage in any of the above described areas. Failure to comply with the above provisions may result in the revocation of such license. SECTION 3. That chapter 16, section 16-28, (Partitions) be amended to read as follows: In no case shall a room in which automatic autuserment devices) are displayed, owned and operated for profit be less than 300 square feet in area.
