AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 86-17 AND SECTION 22-42 OF
GEORGETOWN CODE OF ORDINANCES* CHANGING THE PERIOD OF TIME DURING
WHICH A VEHICLE CAN BE LEGALLY PARKED IN ZONES SO MARKED AND DESIGN-
ATED AS TWO HOUR ZONES, TO ONE HOUR ZONES* PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE:
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas hereby
finds that the one (1) hour parking limitation established by Ordinance
No. 86-17 amending Section 22-42. TWO HOUR ZONES of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Georgetown, is a feasible manner in which to control the traffic
flow and available parking in the downtown area;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS THAT$
Ordinance 86-17 be amended by changing the time of which a vehicle can be legally
parked in zones so marked and designated as two hour zones, and replacing the
time "two (2) hours" with the time "One (1) hour41 wherever it appears within
such ordinance:
When signs are in place giving notice thereof, during the hours of
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, inclusive, it shall
be unlawful for any person to leave standing or parked, any vehicle
for a period of more than one (1) hour in the following one-hour parking
zones and each successive one (1) hour that a vehicle shall be left con-
tinuously parked in such zones shall constitute a separate offense:
SECTION II. If any part of this amendatory ordinance is found by any court
of competent jurisdiction to be void, or unconstitutional, the remaining portions
shall not be effected but shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION III. This ordinance also establishes an emergency for the immediate
preservation of the public peace and safety, and therefore shall take effect
ten (10) days after the date of such publication as provided in Section 2.11
of the Charter of the City.
