OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN CODE OF ORDINANCES TO AMEND THE
DEFINITION "CITY SECRETARY, CHIEF OF POLICE OR OTHER CITY
OFFICERS OR DEPARTMENTS" TO INCLUDE THE TERM CITY MANAGER*
PROVIDE FOR LEGAL DESIGNATES OF SUCH OFFICERS OR
DEPARTMENTS* PROVIDE A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE* AND SETTING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN:
SECTION 1.
That
under Section 1-5. Rules of construction,
the definition "City
secretary,
chief
of police or other city officers or
departments" shall
hereafter
read as
follows:
the-
City secretary, city manager, chief of police or other city
officers. The words 1°city secretary," "city manager,"
"chief of police" or words designating any other city offi-
cers shall be constructed to mean such officer of the City,
respectively, or such officer's duly appointed designate,
where permitted by law.
SECTION 2.
If any section, paragraph,
clause, phrase, or provision of
this
Ordinance
shall be, adjudged invalid
or held unconstitutional, the same
not
affect the
validity of this Ordinance as
a whole or any part or provision
the-
reof other
than the part so declared to
be invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall become
effective upon adoption of its second
and
final
reading
by the
City Council
of
the
City of
Georgetown, Texas.
