SECTION to RECITALS OF PURPOSE
WHEREAS, the City
standard codifications
of Georgetown ("City")
("Codes") of regulations
adoption
has
concerning
heretofore adopted various
buildings, fire
prevention, gas, housing,
mechanical matters,
plumbing
maintenance of
and swimming pools;
and
health
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City to adopt updated
versions of such standard Codes in the areas set forth above; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of these updated Codes is required to facilitate
inspection by the City officials of building and housing projects of
construction within the corporate limits and extra -territorial jurisdiction of
said City, and
WHEREAS,
the
adoption
of these
("SBCCI ")
Codes
is
necessary to the protection and
maintenance of
public
safety,
health

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL_ OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, that the following codes are hereby adopted by reference as
though they were copied herein verbatim.

SECTION 3: CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, that
in the event any matters in the Codes adopted above are contrary or in conflict
with existing ordinances of the City, the Codes adopted above shall prevail and
such existing ordinances, or parts thereof conflicting herewith, are repealed to
the extent of such conflict.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, that
within the Codes adopted in this Ordinance, reference is made to the duties of
certain officials named therein; it is the intention of the City Council that
the designated official in the City of Georgetown who has duties corresponding
to those of the named official and each respective Code, shall be deemed to be
the responsible official in charge of enforcing the provisions of said
respective Code,
In case any one or more of the provisions contained in this Ordinance shall
for any reason be held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be held invalid,
illegal, or unenforceable in any respect, such invalidity, illegality, or
unenforceability shall not affect any other provision herein, and this Ordinance
shall be construed as if the invalid, illegal, or unenforceable provision had
never been included i n the herein
SECTION 6: ATTACHMENTS
Copies of each of the Codes adopted herein are attached to this Ordinance,
incorporated by reference as if set out herein verbatim.
SECTION 7: MEMORANDA
To facilitate in the maintenance of records of the City, the Mayor may sign
memoranda ordinances evidencing notice of the passage of this Ordinance, which
can be placed with the Codes herein adopted,

The City Secretary is hereby directed to publish this Ordinance, or its
caption and penalty, at least one time within TEN (10) days after final passage
hereof or as soon thereafter as possible in a newspaper in the City of
Georgetown, Texas, The City Secretary shall also receive from and file an
affidavit of such publication by the publisher of such newspaper taken before
any officer authorized to administer oaths as evidence of such publication.
