AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8-10 OF CHAPTER 8, "COMPREHENSIVE
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN TO PROVIDE FOR A LIMITATION OF EXPENDITURE OF PUBLIC FUNDS
FOR EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY WITHOUT COUNCIL APPROVAL; REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Emergency Management
Director or his authorized designate has from time to time the need to
have readily available funds to provide for emergency management
activities.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest
to allow a limitation of the expenditure of public funds to be utilized
for emergency management activities which will result in an orderly and
effective system for the implementation of such service as needs arise;
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS:
Section I.
That Section 8-10 of Chapter 8, Comprehensive Emergency Management
of the Code of Ordinance for the City of Georgetown, Texas, is hereby
amended as follows:
Sec. 8-10 Authority to Expend Funds
In carrying out any emergency management activity by contract,
agreement or otherwise, the Emergency Management Director or his
authorized designate, shall not expend public funds of the City in
excess of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000,00) for such contract,
agreement or other emergency management activity without prior approval
by the City Council,
Section II.
All ordinances or parts thereof in force and existence which are
inconsistent or in conflict with the terms of provisions contained in
this ordinance when the provisions of this ordinance become effective
are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict.
Section III.
That this ordinance shall become effective upon passage and second
reading thereof.
