AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX RATE FOR THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN FOR THE TAX YEAR 1989; PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE* AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS,
the City of
Georgetown,
Texas is an
incorporated Home Rule
city dependent
upon taxes
to provide
it's citizens
with
services; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it necessary to levy taxes for the
1988/89 fiscal year for the City of Georgetown, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has met all of the prerequisites for the
levying of taxes within the city; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN:
SECTION I. The City Council of the City of Georgetown (the "City
Councilf1) hereby finds that all of the prerequisites to the levying of a
tax rate for this City for the year 1989, (including, without limitation,
certifications, notices, submittals, and public hearings) as required by
law have been complied with.
SECTION II.
The
City
Council
does
hereby levy and adopt the tax rate
on $100 valuation
for
the
validity
tax year
as a whole or any part
1989
as follows:
$.26737 for the purpose of maintenance and operation
$.09900 for the principal and interest on debt of this city
$.36637 total tax rate
SECTION III. If any
section,
paragraph, clause,
phrase, or provision
of this Ordinance shall be
adjudged
invalid or held
unconstitutional, the
same shall not affect the
validity
of this Ordinance
as a whole or any part
or provision thereof other
than the
part so declared
to be invalid or
unconstitutional.
SECTION IV. This Ordinance shall become effective upon adoption of
its second and final reading by the City Council of the City of Georgetown,
Texas.
