ORDINANCE NO.`
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS
DESIGNATING TWO-WAY TRAFFIC ON A PORTION OF 8TH
STREET FROM MAIN STREET TO CHURCH STREET IN THE
CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN;
ESTABLISHING THE BOUNDARIES BEING MODIFIED FROM
THE EXISTING ONE-WAY PORTION OF 8TH STREET,
PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, AND SETTING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas,
finds that the one way designation of the 100 Block of East 8th
Street from Main Street to Church Street is no longer required
due to the relocation of the United States Post Office and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the return to two-way
traffic in that particular block, coinciding with the remaining
portions of 8th Street and consistent with traffic patterns in
the Downtown area of the City could facilitate traffic flow into,
around and away from the Courthouse Square,* and
WHEREAS,
the City Council
has found
that this action
implements Economic Development
Policy 2
and Transportation
Policy 1 of
the Century Plan
- Policy Plan
Element, and is not
found to be inconsistent
or in
conflict with
any other Century
Plan Policies,
as required by
Section 2.03 of
the Administrative
Chapter of the
Policy Plan,*
for East and West
bound traffic
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT:
SECTION I.
That the
City
Council adopts
the
recitals
set forth in the
preamble
as true
and correct and
are
adopted herein.
SECTION II.
That the
City Council
authorizes
the 100 Block
of East
8th
Street,
from Main
Street to
Church to revert
from a one-way
street,
including appropriate
street
striping and signage,
to
a
two-way
street to
allow travel
for East and West
bound traffic
and that
the staff
be directed
to implement all
action
to
accomplish this change.

Any existing ordinance,
with the provision of
resolution, or policy
conflict.

SECTION V.
Upon final passage the City Secretary shall cause this
ordinance's caption to be published in the newspaper of general
jurisdiction and this ordinance shall become effective 10 days
after its publication.
