HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 900148 - Speed Limits City StreetsORDINANCE NO, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIO14 22-29, "CITY STREETS" OF ARTICLE II, "SPEED LIMITS", CHAPTER 22 OF THE GEORGETOWN CODE OF ORDINANCES, ZONING FOR TRAFFIC AND RATE OF SPEED THEREIN DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ERECT APPROPRIATE SIGNS INDICATING SUCH ZONES] PROVIDING A PENALTY CLAUSE, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND SETTING= AN EFFECTIVE DATE: WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas, pursuant to the police powers conferred upon it as a home -rule City, has the authority to alter speed limits on public streets within its jurisdiction; WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE deems it necessary and proper to repeal Sec 22-29, "City Streets" The City preamble Council of this ordinance of Chapter 22, "Traffic", of the Cade of Ordinances herein verbatim of the City at length. of Georgetown, Texas to include additional streets for regulated speed limits as allowed by Vernon's Civil Statutes .Article 6701d, Section 27; and NOW, CITY OF THEREFORE, GEORGETOWN, BE TEXAS, IT ORDAINED that: BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE SECTION I. appropriate signs to indicate The City preamble Council of this ordinance finds that the recitals set are true and correct forth in the and are adopted herein verbatim as if .fully set .forth at length. Upon final passage the City Secretary shall cause this ordinance's caption to be published in the newspaper of general jurisdiction and this ordinance shall become effective l0 days after its publication. Highway 29), a prima facie maximum speed limit of 20 miles per hour during the hours of 7:15 a.m. until 8:15 a.m., and 2:45 p.m. until 3:45 p.m., when school is in session. (8) School Speed Zone - College Street: Beginning at the North curb line of 8th Street continuing South on College Street to the North curb Line of University Avenue (S.H.
