HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 900122 - PersonnelORDINANCE NO. 900122 AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTIONS 18-1 THROUGH 18-7 OF CHAPTER 18, "PERSONNEL" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TO PROVIDE FOR RECODIFICATION PURPOSES; SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City Council by authority of the City Charter is authorized to establish personnel policy, WHEREAS, the City Council from time to time, revises and amends the Personnel Rules and Procedures for the City employees, WHEREAS, employees are provided a copy of these rules and regulations, including any revisions thereto, WHEREAS, the Council finds there is no necessity to codify the current Rules and Procedures; WHEREAS, the Council wishes to delete the current personnel provision from the Code since it has now been superseded, WHEREAS, the Council further finds that the Worker's Compensation statutes govern the City with regard to it employees and, therefore, the Sections in Article I. are obsolete and should be deleted to further the purposes of the recodification process; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION I. The City Council finds that the recitals set forth above are true and correct and are adopted herein verbatim as if fully set forth at length. SECTION II. That Sections 18-1 through 18-7 of Article I., "Personnel", are hereby deleted in their entirety. SECTION III. All Ordinances, parts of Ordinances, or Resolutions in conflict herewith are expressly repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION IV. If any article, provision, paragraph or part of a paragraph of this Ordinance is held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the same shall not invalidate or impair the validity, force or effect of any other article, paragraph or part of a paragraph of the remainder of this Ordinance. SECTION V. This Ordinance shall become effective upon Second Reading and Final Passage thereof. READ, PASSED AND APPROVED on First Reading this day of 1990.
