WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the Census Bureau did not use the
correct city limits lines in their data;
WHEREAS, the City Council had adopted Redistricting Plan No. 11 through Ordinance
91-21 on August 27, 1991 which includes incorrect census bureau data;

WHEREAS, Redistricting Plan No. 11 was drawn from the incorrect data regarding City
limits from the Census Bureau;
WHEREAS, the lines have been redrawn by the City's redistricting consultants;
WHEREAS, after review
of the correct data
from the census bureau,the
Council finds that
Plan No. 12 best serves the
City
of Georgetown as its single
member district
plan;
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action implements Governmental Affairs
Policy 2 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states: "The City will encourage all
citizens to actively participate in governmental functions"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action is not inconsistent or in conflict
with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter
of the Policy Plan;

SECTION 1
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found and
declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a
part hereof, as if copied verbatim.
SECTION 2
Redistricting Plan Ordinance No.
Page 1 of 2
Plan No. 12 is hereby adopted as the single member district plan for the City of
Georgetown, Texas and is attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
SECTION 3
Upon final reading, the City Attorney is directed to submit this plan to the Justice
Department for approval.
SECTION 4
All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in conflict with this
Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and effect.
SECTION 5
If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance,
shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application thereof,
of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to
this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable.
