HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 91-10 - REZ Billboard SignORDINANCE NO, WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas finds that the reasonable regulation of billboards and signs within the community contributes to the public welfare both by enabling the identification of businesses and the promotion of commerce and by avoiding the appearance of visual blight and clutter; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown Planning and Zoning Commission on March 21, 1991 conducted a public hearing on the proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance which are effected by this ordinance; and the Commission recommended the adoption of the same amendments; and WHEREAS, the City Council hereby finds that this action implements Economic Development Policies 1 and 2, Environmental and Resource conservation Policy 1, Growth and Physical Development Policy 2, and Historic Preservation and Urban Design Policies I and 2 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, and is not found to be inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. THEREFORE,• CITY OF R • That all of the facts recited in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby found by the Council to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim; That Appendix A of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown (the Zoning Ordinance), is hereby amended as described in Exhibit A of this ordinance. March 1, 1991 1 This ordinance shall be effective for all property located within the corporate limits of the City of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, on the date on which it is read, passed and approved on the second and final reading and signed by the Mayor of the City of Georgetown, Texas, All Ordinances, parts of Ordinances, or Resolutions in conflict herewith are expressly repealed. If any section, phrase or provision of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity -of this ordinance as a whole or of any remaining part or provision thereof, other than the part so declared to be invalid or unconstitutional. Any person(s) or firm or corporation who shall violate any provision of this ordinance, or shall fail to comply therewith, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $200. A building or premises shall be used only for the following purposes: 14. Signs (advertising) used in connection with and on the same lot as the establishment to which they refer. No sign shall have a height greater than any building on the premises upon which it is located. No sign shall use flashing or rotating lights or lighting devices.
