AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 2.36.020 ("CITY
COMMISSIONS, COMMITTEES AND BOARDS TERMS AND
MEMBERSHIP") AND SECTION 2.64.010 ("BUILDING TRADE BOARD
OF APPEALS") OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES
AND RESOLUTIONS; INCLUDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas appointed an advisory
committee of councilmembers to make recommendations about the terms and structure of City
boards, committees and commissions; and
WHEREAS, recent state legislation has mandated that City Council advisory board
members be appointed for not more than two (2) years; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action implements Governmental Affairs
Policy 1 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states: "The City will encourage all
citizens to actively participate in governmental functions"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action is not inconsistent or in conflict
with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter
of the Policy Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found and
declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a
part hereof, as if copied verbatim.
SECTION 2
Section 2.64.010 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"2.64.010 Created - Membership.
There is created and established in and for the City a Building Standards
Commission hereafter known as the "Commission". Appointments of members to the
Commission shall be on the recommendation of the Mayor of the City and be approved by a vote

of the majority of the City Council in regular open session. The Commission shall consist of five
members as follows:
A. One member shall be experienced in the building construction
business;
B. One member shall be experienced in the fire protection or fire
prevention field;
Co One member shall be experienced in the mechanical (heating,
ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry and possess or
have possessed a mechanical contractor's license;
D. One member shall be experienced as an electrical contractor and
possess or have possessed a master electrician's license;
E. One member shall be experienced as a plumbing contractor who is
or has been licensed with the Texas Railroad Commision to work
with liquid petroleum (LP) gases. (Ord. 870265.006 § 1 (part))
SECTION 3
The "Economic Advisory Board" and the "Traffic Safety and Parking Committee" are
hereby abolished.
SECTION 4
Table 2.36020 of Section 2.36.020 of the City of Georgetown Code of Ordinances relating
to Advisory Boards is amended as shown on Attachment A.
SECTION 5
All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in conflict with this
Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and effect.
SECTION 6
If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance,
shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application thereof,
of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to
this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable.

SECTION 7
The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary to attest.
