WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas ordered an election to
be held on Saturday, May 7, 1994, for the purpose of electing the following officials for this
City:
The Mayor and four (4) members of Council, Districts .1, 2, 6, and 7; and
WHEREAS, the City
Council
has investigated all
matters pertaining to said election,
including the ordering, giving
notice,
holding and making
returns of said election; and
WHEREAS, the election officers who held said election have duly made the returns of
the results thereof, and said returns have been duly delivered to said City Council; and
WHEREAS, a petition for recount was received by the City Secretary, requesting that the
ballots for the District 1 Councilmember race be re -tallied; and
WHEREAS, at an official recount which was held on Tuesday, May 17, 1994, the results
in the District 1 Councilmember race were found to be as follows:
George R. Arroyos
Joe A. Munoz, Jr.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown has determined that this
Ordinance must be passed on an emergency reading to preserve the credibility and confirm the
outcome of the election and preserve the credibility of our election process.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN TEXAS, that:
SECTION I.
The City Council officially finds and determines that said recount was held in accordance with
law; and that the tally sheets from said recount have been delivered, and that the City Council
has canvassed said returns, all in accordance with the law.

SECTION II.
The City Council officially finds and determines that George R. Arroyos was elected as
Councilmember for District No. 1;
Furthermore, George R. Arroyos is hereby declared duly elected to the office of Councilmember
of District I as declared by previous canvass of results and as provided for by the laws of the
State of Texas and the Charter of the City of Georgetown, Texas.
SECTION III.
This Ordinance establishes an emergency due to the need for this Councilmember to be
confirmed in his office in a timely fashion and in accordance with the provisions of the Election
Code of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of Georgetown, and therefore this
ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage by a favorable vote of not less than a
majority plus one of the Councilmembers qualified in serving.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED on emergency reading on this 24th day of May, 1994.
