HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 94-15 - Board of Electrical ExaminersW,1611�11 pull 106"1 Veil 113*0 me 1110F af• WHEREAS, the Electrical Examiner's Board plays a key role in the safety and viability of Georgetown; and, WHEREAS, the Electrical industry has expanded, as has the demands of, and on, the Board; and, WHEREAS, this amendment reflects the changes the Council and the Electrical Board recommended at their February 28, 1994, Joint Meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this ordinance implements Governmental Affairs Policy 2 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan which states, "The City will encourage all citizens to actively participate in governmental functions", and is not found to be inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan; SECTION 2. The attached Exhibit "A" is hereby adopted by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, SECTION 3. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and effect. SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable. The Board shall consist of s4 members who shall be appointed by the City Council. Of these si* members, two shall be licensed and active master electricians with principal business offices established in Georgetown, Texas; one member may be an electrical engineer or master electrician with at least ten years' experience as an electrician and with a principal business office established in Georgetown, Texas; one member shall be a journeyman electrician except a master electrician may serve the first term; one member shall be an owner of a business whose principal office is located in Georgetown, Texas, but is not actively engaged in the electrical trade or electrical business, but who shall be familiar with building and construction trades; and one member shall be a homeowner citizen of Georgetown with knowledge of the electrical tradeyii�i/ii (Prior Code §6-36) pairi 1 J ��•��� The City Electrical Inspector and the City Electrical Superintendent shall serve on the Board as ex officio members while holding their respective offices.
