WHEREAS, The Texas Department of Transportation recently conducted speoi
.w-tudies on RM 2243 (Leander Road) through the City of Georgetown; and
EREAS,
these studies
indicate
that
certain speed limit adjustments within the
existing speed zone
are warranted
at this
time;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas hereby finds that a
necessity exists for modification of existing speed limits in the area along certain portions
of RM 2243 (Leander Load), as hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that this action is not inconsistent or in
conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the
Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan;

The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby
found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this
ordinance implements Transportation Policy 1 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element,
which states: 'The City will encourage a transportation system that provides for the safe and
efficient movement of traffic, promotes the economic interests of the community, and
adequately serves the personal needs of individuals ", and further finds that the enactment
of this ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as
required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2
Section 10.12.070of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown, Texas is
hereby amended to read as follows:

4. School Speed Zone (Westbound): Beginning at milepoint 20.193 to milepoint 19.853,
a distance of 0. 340 miles, a prima facie maximum speed limit of 30 miles per hour when
flashing.
All ordinances an• resolutions,or parts of ordinances and resolutions, conflict with
this Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and effect.
If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance,
shall be held invalid, such invaliditynot other provisions, or application
application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be
