AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the recent construction of street and drainage improvements on East
15th Street has necessitated the reassessment of the East 15th Street school speed zone;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, hereby finds it
necessary to expand the East 15th Street school speed zone to provide safer traffic
conditions for children and residents in the area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance
are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference
herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby
finds that this ordinance implements Transportation Policy 1 of the Century Plan - Policy
Plan Element, which states: "The City will encourage a transportation system that provides
for the safe and efficient movement of traffic, promotes the economic interests of the
community, and adequately serves the personal needs of individuals", and further finds
that the enactment of this ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century
Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan,
SECTION 2, Chapter 10.12.090, B., 10., of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Georgetown, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows:
"10.12.030 City Streets.
B. 20 Mile Per Hour Zones.
10. School Speed Zone. East 15th Street: Beginning approximately 150 feet west
of the west curbline of Maple Street to approximately 109 feet east of the east curbline of
James Street, a prima facie maximum speed limit of 20 miles per hour during the hours of
7:15 a.m. until 8:15 a.m., and 2:45 p.m. until 3:45 p.m., when school is in session."
SECTION 3. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions,
in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and
effect.

SECTION 4. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City
Secretary to attest. This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect
in (10) ten days on and after publication in accordance with the provisions of the Charter
of the City of Georgetown.
