WHEREAS, it has come to the City's attention that there has been an increasing
amount of commercial truck traffic going through Parkview Estates; and
WHEREAS, the residents of Parkview Estates are concerned that this
commercial truck traffic is creating a safety hazard; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown finds it to be in the best
interest of the citizens of Georgetown to amend its traffic regulations to prohibit
commercial truck traffic from going through Parkview Estates.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITAT
OF GEORGETOWN,
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this
ordinance are found to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein
and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds
that this ordinance implements Century Pian Policy End number 10.00, which states,
"Citizens and commercial goods move safely and efficiently throughout all parts of the
City" and further finds that the adoption of this ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict
with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative
Chapter of the Policy Plan,
SECTION 2. Section 10.04.010 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Georgetown is hereby amended to add Section M which shall read as follows:
"10.040.010 Duties and authority of the Traffic Engineer.
M. Designate and erect appropriate signage prohibiting commercial
truck traffic from going through Parkview Estates."
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be and is hereby declared to be cumulative of
all other ordinances of the City of Georgetown, and this ordinance shall not operate to
repeal or affect any of such other ordinances, except insofar as the provisions thereof
might be inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance, in which event
such conflicting provisions, if any in such other ordinance or ordinances are hereby
superseded.
