HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2001-46 - No Parking ZonesAN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10.16 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO ESTABLISH NO PARKING ZONES ON A PORTION OF MAPLE, VINE, LAUREL AND OLIVE STREETS; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ERECT APPROPRIATE SIGNS INDICATING SUCH ZONES; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, deems it necessary and proper to amend Chapter 10.16 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown, Texas, to establish no parking zones on a portion of Maple, Vine, Laurel and Olive Streets between University Avenue and East 13th Street; and WHEREAS, the Council finds that it is necessary and proper and in the best interest of the citizens of Georgetown to adopt the changes hereinafter set forth. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, that: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this ordinance implements Transportation Policy 12.0 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states: "Georgetown's transportation system provides for the safe and efficient movement of traffic, promotes the economic interests of the community, and adequately serves the needs of individuals"; and further finds that the enactment of this ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. SECTION 2. Chapter 10.16 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown, Texas is hereby amended to add the following to Section 10.16.035, "No parking for limited time": "Maple Street, Laurel Street, Vine Street and Olive Street: Between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, along both sides of each street, from the south curblines of their intersections with University Avenue to the north curblines of their intersections with East 13th Street. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and effect. SECTION 6. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable. SECTION 7. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary to attest. This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect in (10) ten dans on and after publication in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Georgetown.
