AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10.16 OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES REGARDING PARKING TO
ESTABLISH NO PARKING ZONES ON W. 3rd, W. 41hj W. 61h,
W. 6t", MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., AND WEST STREETS,
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ERECT
APPROPRIATE SIGNS INDICATING SUCH ZONES,
REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND
RESOLUTIONS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND SETTING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, deems it necessary
and proper to amend Chapter 10.16 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown,
Texas, to establish no parking zones on a segment of W. 3rd W 4th W 5t" and W. 6t"
Streets and on West Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Street; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that it is necessary and proper and in the best interest
of the citizens of Georgetown to adopt the changes hereinafter set forth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, that:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance
are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference
herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby
finds that this ordinance implements Transportation Policy 12.0 of the Century Plan - Policy
Plan Element, which states: "Georgetown's transportation system provides for the safe and
efficient movement of traffic, promotes the economic interests of the community, and
adequately serves the needs of individuals"; and further finds that the enactment of this
ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required
by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2. Chapter 10.16.035 "No Parking for Limited Time" of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Georgetown, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows:
When signs are in place giving notice thereof, during the hours between 8:00
A.M. and 5:00 P.M., inclusive, Monday through Friday, (except legal
holidays), it shall be unlawful for a person to leave standing or parked, any
vehicle in the following zones:
A. 400 block of West Third Street;
B. 500 and 600 blocks of West Fourth Street;
C. 500 block of West Fifth Street;
D. 500 and 600 blocks of West Sixth Street;
E. 300, 400, 500, 600 blocks of West Street; and

F. 600 and 700 blocks of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
G. Along the west curb line of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, from the south curb
line of West 3rd Street to the north curb line of West 6th Street (300, 4007 500
blocks of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.)
SECTION 3. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions,
in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and
effect.
SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person
or circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions,
or application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid
provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby
declared to be severable.
SECTION 5. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City
Secretary to attest. This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect
in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Georgetown.
