HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2002-16 - TaxiwaysAN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS AMENDING SECTION 12.32.420 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES ENTITLED "PARKING AIRCRAFT" TO STATE THAT PARKING ON AN AIRPORT TAXIWAY IS PROHIBITED; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council that aircraft are sometimes parked on the airport taxiway; and WHEREAS, the City Council has detennined that parking on a taxiway should be prohibited; and WHEREAS, the caption of this ordinance was printed in the Williamson County Sun in compliance with the City Charter of the City of Georgetown; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this ordinance implements the following elements of the Century Plan and that the enactment of this ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, or the Airport Plan, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan: Transportation Plan 12.0 — Georgetown's transportation system provides for the safe and efficient movement of traffic, promotes the economic interests of the conununity, and adequately serves the needs of individuals. SECTION 2. Section 12.32.40 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown is hereby amended to provide as follows: 12.32.420 Parking Aircraft A. Aircraft shall not be parked on or within 250_feet of the centerline of Runway 18- 36, or within 125 feet from the centerline of Runway 11-29. All unhoused aircraft shall be parked in the areas designated by the airport manager for that purpose. B. There shall be no parking allowed on any airport taxiway. C. Aircraft will not be parked in such a manner as to hinder the normal movement of other traffic unless specifically authorized by the airport manager as an emergency measure or during special events. D. It is the responsibility of the pilot when leaving a parked aircraft unattended to see that the brakes are set or that the plane is properly chocked and/or tied down. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and effect." SECTION 4 If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable. SECTION 5. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary to attest. This Ordinance shall become effective in accordance with the provisions of State law and the Charter of the City of Georgetown. PASSED AND APPROVED on First Reading on the day of , 2002.
