ORDINANCES REGARDING PARKING TO ESTABLISH A NO
PARKING ZONE ON PORTIONS OF NORTH AUSTIN AVENUE
AND FM 971; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND
RESOLUTIONS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, deems it necessary and
proper to amend Chapter 10.16 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Georgetown, Texas, to
establish a no parking zone on a segment of North Austin Avenue, between Stadium Drive and FM
971; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that it is necessary and proper and in the best interest of the
citizens of Georgetown to adopt the changes hereinafter set forth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, that:
SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and
expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this
ordinance implements Transportation Policy 12.0 of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which
states: "Georgetown's transportation system provides for the safe and efficient movement of traffic,
promotes the economic interests of the community, and adequately serves the needs of individuals";
and further finds that the enactment of this ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other
Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan.
SECTION 2. Chapter 10.16.040(C) "No Parking At Any Time" of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Georgetown, Texas is hereby amended to add a new item 11 as follows:
C. No parking zones designated. In addition to all no parking zones
appropriately designated prior to the effective date of the ordinance codified
in this section, the following specific streets and portions of streets are
designated as no parking zones:
1. —10. (no changes)
11. Austin Avenue: To begin 581 feet north of the north curbline on the east
side of Stadium Drive at the Stadium Drive/Austin Avenue intersection and
continue to the north toward FM 971 to a point located 1381 feet north of the
north curbline of Stadium Drive at the Stadium Drive/Austin Avenue
intersection, for a total distance of 800 feet.
FM 971: To begin at the intersection of FM 971/Austin Avenue and continue
to the east on the south side of FM 971 to a point located 700 feet from said
intersection.
SECTION 3. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in
conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and effect.
SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or
circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application

thereof, of
this
ordinance
which can be given effect without the invalid
provision or application, and
to this
end
the
provisions
of this ordinance are hereby declared to be
severable.
SECTION 5. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary
to attest. This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect in accordance with
the provisions of the Charter of the City of Georgetown.
