HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 012412-JWHEREAS, the City of Georgetown ( "City ") intends to make certain improvements to the Georgetown Municipal Airport; and WHEREAS, the general description of the project is: Airport runway improvements to provide a Runway Protection Zone (RPZ) on Runway 11 and an RPZ and Threshold Sighting Surface (TSS) on Runway 29 in order to bring the airport up to current Federal Aviation Administration safety standards per attached Exhibit "A ". WHEREAS, the City intends to request financial assistance from the Texas Department of Transportation for these improvements; and WHEREAS, total project costs are estimated to be $425,000.00, and the City of Georgetown will be responsible for 10% thereof, which are currently estimated to be $42,500.00; and WHEREAS, the City names the Texas Department of Transportation as its agent for the purposes of applying for, receiving and disbursing all funds for these improvements and for the administration of contracts necessary for the implementation of these improvements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, that the City hereby finds it to be in the best interest of the public to Resolution No. Description: T TOWELT j Date Approved: U t 1 Page 1 of 2 participate in the herein described grant program and hereby directs Edward G. Polasek, AICP, Transportation Services Director, to execute, on behalf of the City at the appropriate time and with the appropriate authorizations of this governing body, all contracts and agreements with the State of Texas, represented by the Texas Department of Transportation, and such other parties as shall be necessary and appropriate for the implementation of the improvements to the Georgetown Municipal Airport. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED) BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Section Three — "Future Facility Requirements" of the Airport Master Plan component of the City's 2030 Comprehensive Plan and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other 2030 Comprehensive Plan Policies. SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute this resolution and the City Secretary to attest. SECTION 3. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
