OVLZ©S—g A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN APPLICATIONS, CONTRACTS, AND AGREEMENTS WITH THE STATE OF TEXAS RELATING TO THE APPLICATION FOR A GRANT FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, AVIATION DIVISION, FOR IMPROVEMENTS AT THE GEORGETOWN MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown intends to undertake certain improvements to the Georgetown Municipal Airport, and WHEREAS, on February 22, 2005, the City was notified by the Texas Department of Transportation that the Georgetown Municipal Airport was eligible to receive a FY 2005 Non -Primary Entitlement Grant in the amount of $150,000.00; and WHEREAS, On March 21, 2005, the Airport Advisory Board voted unanimously to recommend that Council accept the grant for the following Airport projects: (1) Construct an emergency access road from Fire Station No. 4 to the Airport runway as recommended in the Master Plan Update. (2) Install a 4 Box visual glade slope indicator (PAPI) as recommended in the Draft Master Plan Update. (3) Install a new rotating beacon on top of the new Air Traffic Control Tower and remove the old beacon tower (4) Remove trees, relocate utilities, and relocate or replace the Civil Air Patrol building, due to the Air Traffic Control Tower construction. WHEREAS, the total estimated cost for the above -described improvements is $136,500.00; and WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has and will provide at least 1O% of the project costs with local funds and understands that the above mentioned entitlement funds cannot be increased; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Georgetown that: SECTIONI. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this resolution implements Policy Statement 3.0 of the Georgetown Century Plan, which states "Citizens, business owners and organizations enjoy the benefits of well -planned land usage in which conflicting needs are balanced;" and further finds that the adoption of this resolution is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies. lce- SECTION 2. The City of Georgetown hereby requests federal Non - Primary Entitlement funds from the Texas Department of Transportation for the improvements identified in this Resolution and names the Texas Department of Transportation as its agent for the purposes of applying for, receiving and disbursing funds pursuant to the federal Non Primary Entitlement Grant in the amount of $150,000, and for the selection of the consultant and administration of contracts necessary for the implementation of these improvements; and SECTION 3. The Mayor is authorized to execute on behalf of the City of Georgetown, at the appropriate time, and with the appropriate authorizations of this governing body, all contracts and agreements with the State of Texas, represented by the Texas Department of Transportation, and such other parties as shall be necessary and appropriate for requesting a federal Non -Primary Entitlement Grant in the amount of $150,000 for the following purposes: constructing an Airport Fire and Rescue Taxiway, installing 4 Box PAPI installing a rotating beacon and removing the old beacon tower; and removing trees, relocating utilities, and relocating or replacing a building due to construction of the Air Traffic Control Tower for the Georgetown Municipal Airport consistent with the terms of this resolution.
